Alejandro Arenas

Alejandro Arenas was born in Medellin, Colombia where he started his musical career playing flamenco and classical guitar. Arenas began studying bass in his teen years, focusing on a wide variety of styles including salsa, blues, rock and heavy metal. Arenas obtained his Bachelors of Music in Jazz Performance from the University of South Florida in 2007. During his studies at USF Arenas had the opportunity to perform alongside internationally recognized jazz musicians including Conrad Herwig, Randy Brecker, Tim Armacost and Wycliffe Gordon.

Arenas currently is an instructor at the Music Industry/Recording Arts Program at St. Petersburg College. He also performs as a freelance musician in the Tampa Bay area with various artists including Kym Purling, The Mars Trio, La Lucha, The Forefront, The St. Petersburg Jazz Orchestra, The Freetime Trio, Denise Moore and Then Some, O Som do Jazz, and many more.
